The past week was marked by the confirmation of an unqualified Secretary of Education (“but only with the help of a historic tiebreaking vote from Vice President Mike Pence”) and an Attorney General with a history of alleged racist comments and sexist statements and actions. But it will also be known for the birth of the battle cry “Nevertheless, she persisted” (thank you, Senator Elizabeth Warren), the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit’s rejection of President Trump‘s bid to reinstate his Muslim ban, and renewed interest in the Trump-Russia story due to evidence that national security adviser Michael Flynn discussed sanctions with the Russian ambassador and then covered it up.
