And Russia, the world’s leading grain exporter, has been largely unable to export food because of international sanctions. The combination is creating a global food crisis “beyond anything we’ve seen since World War II,” the chief of the United Nations World Food Program has warned.” NY Times
• “Prices rose 8.5 percent in March compared with a year ago, the largest annual increase since December 1981, as Russia’s war in Ukraine sent energy prices soaring. The White House and Federal Reserve have launched several initiatives to try and corral inflation, but the spike in prices on gasoline, food, and a range of other products continues to weigh on millions of Americans.” Washington Post
• “Donald Trump Jr. texted White House chief of staff Mark Meadows two days after the 2020 presidential election with strategies for overturning the result if Trump’s father lost, CNN reported Friday. The text was sent two days before Joe Biden was declared the winner, according to CNN. It reportedly laid out strategies that then-President Donald Trump’s team pursued in the following months as they disseminated misinformation about election fraud and pressured state and federal officials to assist in that effort.” AP
