Nonprofit Radio – 750th Show!

Tony Martignetti Nonprofit Radio celebrated its 750th show and 15th Anniversary! I’ve been honored to be a regular for all 15 years, joining shortly after Tony got started.

It’s Nonprofit Radio’s 750th show and 15th Anniversary Jubilee. To celebrate, co-host Claire Meyerhoff shares her “Ode to Nonprofit Radio.” We have our associate producer, Kate Martignetti; 3 live songs from Scott Stein, including our theme “Cheap Red Wine;” and, our contributors Gene Takagi (law), and Amy Sample Ward (technology), are also on board. It’s fun and music and celebration! And gratitude.

It was fun to hear about Tony’s start and to hear Clare’s and Kate’s perspectives of working with Tony. It’s always great to learn from Amy, the CEO of NTEN and a truly wonderful person who recently joined me on the board of BoardSource. And I love listening to Scott’s music (I hear shades of Billy Joel; shout out to the recent documentary of his life, Billy Joel: And So It Goes).

Who is Tony Martignetti?

Tony is an enthusiastic champion for “the other 95%” of nonprofits, and he hosts his show with a comedian’s sense of humor (not surprisingly, Tony has a background as a standup comic). Nonprofit Radio covers an array of management topics pertinent to smaller nonprofits. Listeners benefit from practical advice shared by Tony and his many guests, which have included Stacy Palmer, Art Taylor, Julia Campbell, Edgar Villanueva, Asha Curran, Henry Timms, Sheila Warren, Ted Bilich, Jonathan Lewis, Ruth McCambridge, Yigit Uctum, Erin Bradrick, Eugene Fram, Maria Semple, Beth Kanter, Allison Fine, Gail Perry, John Kenyon, Jacob Harold, and Diana Aviv.

A big reason why I appreciate Nonprofit Radio is Tony’s approach to issues that some may find controversial. Tony will openly express his opinions on these issues, including his beliefs on the importance of human and civil rights; the lawfulness of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts; and the problems related to wealthy individuals and corporations controlling political elections and actions.

I also appreciate Tony’s past background as a practicing lawyer and a member of the U.S. Air Force who “held held the keys to nuclear missiles.” If your interest is piqued, see the rest of Tony’s bio here.
