We’re thrilled to announce the addition of Sharon Hing to our team as Senior Attorney and a contributor to the Nonprofit Law Blog!

I first met Sharon when she was working as a Membership and Program Associate at Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP) in 2007. When she left AAPIP to go to law school at UCLA in 2010, I knew she would be an impactful lawyer focused on social good (unless she first became an acclaimed artist). While in law school, she interned for Legal Services of Northern California and the ACLU – Northern California and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Pacific American Law Journal.

The short version of her professional bio follows:

For over 20 years, Sharon Hing has dedicated her career to strengthening the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. Recently, Sharon was the Director of Collaborative Learning at Justice Funders. Previously, she was with the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) where she led multiple immigration advocacy collaboratives and regranting programs. Sharon also was a lecturer at UC Berkeley School of Law where she taught legal ethics. Sharon began her career at Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy.

After graduating from UCLA School of Law with specializations in critical race theory and public interest law and policy, Sharon served as a law clerk to the late Judge Harry Pregerson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She received her undergraduate degrees from UCLA with majors in Fine Art, International Development Studies, and History. She is admitted to practice in California.
